All in all I found this book very helpful. I built the poultry palace which is working out well for my six hens. The photographs were a big help. I did find that if I used the finished photographs and the basic information that it worked out very well for me. I would definately recomend this book as a guide to building small poultry houses. Very useful in helping me decide what and how to build a chicken house for my son.
Diagrams were very useful as were the photographs of the finished item.

I wanted to purchase or build a poultry house for some egg laying chickens. The pre-constructed designs I saw were very expensive and costly to ship as well. This is a very helpful book with much to commend it. It offers a variety of ideas for the budding poultry keeper. Perhaps it would be helpful to include some of the anti-fox mechanisms that have been used over the years such as means of preventing a fox entering a hen house by means of a partition inside that the short hen can negotiate but not the long bodied fox. Other than that, I found this book helpful in developing my own ideas for my hen house. (Posted on 25/06/2009)
